I'm confused: the topic says "Windows Live Mail" yet the text refers to "Windows Live Messenger".

Assuming you mean "Windows Live Mail", have you already got Windows Live Mail configured to check your POP3 email? If so then you need to make some changes to each account to make that account use POPFile.

POP3 mail without POPFile: Windows Live Mail -- internet -- mail server

POP3 mail with POPFile: Windows Live Mail -- POPFile -- internet -- mail server

To make an ordinary POP3 account use POPFile change the Windows Live Mail settings for that account:

(1) make a note of the current incoming POP3 server (e.g. pop3.example.com)

(2) change the incoming POP3 server to 127.0.0.1

(3) change the POP3 login ID (or username) by inserting the server details from step (1) and a semicolon in front of the current login ID (or username). For example, change

my_username

to

pop3.example.com:my_username

Some extra steps are required if you want to add POPFile to an account, such as Gmail, that requires SSL support. You did not mention a need for SSL support so I won't go into details now.
