Input field POP3 host:port:user separator character:
will not accept the following string - pop.gmail.com:al.griffin44
The error message I receive is... The separator character must be a single character
I do not understand the message. Can someone help me with the proper syntax?
My Incoming mail port is 995

I think you are referring to the CONFIGURATION page in POPFile's User Interface (UI). This page has a field where you can change the POP3 separator character from its default setting (which is a single colon character, as marked in red in this screenshot.
This field must have exactly ONE character in it. This is why you are getting an error message.
The text string which you are trying to enter should be entered into the account setting in your email program (Outlook, Thunderbird, Eudora or whatever program you use to send and receive POP3 email).
