Local Host Not Found

Hi All, Been using POPFile for a number of years and really like it. However,
for the past week or so I cannot access the UI.

I get the message "http://localhost:9000 Application Not Found".

I reinstalled POPFile, but I still get the same thing.

What might be the problem and how do I fix it?

Thanks a bunch.

Jim

I uninstalled the older version. Then I downloaded and installed v1.1.1.

Now I still can't access the UI, but I don't get an error. Nothing happens at all.

    Any help appreciated.

Which operating system are you using?

How are you trying to access the UI?

Have you tried typing the address into the browser? Also try using http://127.0.0.1:9000 instead of http://localhost:9000 to access the UI.

If you are using Windows the installer creates some diagnostic shortcuts that may provide some clues:

Start -- All Programs -- POPFile -- Support -- PFI Diagnostic utility (full)

This will run some checks and display a report which can be copied to the clipboard and pasted into a reply.

If you shut down POPFile you can use this shortcut to check the database:

Start -- All Programs -- POPFile -- Support -- Check database status

The report can be copied to the clipboard and pasted into a reply.

Another thing you can do is shut down POPFile and then use this shortcut:

Start -- All Programs -- POPFile -- Support -- Message Capture utility

This will start POPFile and display some messages that are normally hidden. If POPFile detects a problem extra error messages and/or warnings may be displayed. These messages can be copied to the clipboard and pasted into a reply.

Which operating system are you using?

        WinXP-Home SP3

How are you trying to access the UI?

From the system tray by clicking on the icon and then on UI.

It's at localhost:8080 and I can access it by the above procedure, but it's not mormal.

Sorry, no can do. I can only start it from .exe file in the directory or the shortcut.

I appreciate your help. Never had any trouble before with it. Wonder if I have added something that has created a conflict?

        Regards,

          Your original message said

I get the message "http://localhost:9000 Application Not Found".

so I thought you'd configured POPFile to use port 9000

          POPFile isn't in "All Programs"

You can run the diagnostic program using the "Run..." entry in the "Start Menu". Look for pfidiag.exe in the C:\Program Files\POPFile folder (if you are using the 64-bit version of Windows look in C:\Program Files (x86)\POPFile instead).

To get a more detailed report you need to run the program with the option /full (C:\Program Files\POPFile\pfidiag.exe /full)
