POPFile V1.1.2 crashes with Perl fatal error 1

OS: Windows XP SP3 (German edition)
Mail client: Pegasus V4.61

No problems encountered while upgrading from V1.1.1 to V1.1.2.

When downloading mails (using a limited user access Windows account), POPFile is accessing the first two standard POP3 accounts just fine but crashes when accessing a third account using SSL. Here are the last 5 log file entries:

2011/8/22 09:47:01 736: pop3: 682: POP3 proxy done
2011/8/22 09:47:01 736: Perl fatal error : 1
2011/8/22 09:47:01 736: config: 594: Can't write to the configuration file D:\DOKUME~1\user\ANWEND~1\POPFile/popfile.cfg
2011/8/22 09:47:01 736: POPFile stopped
2011/8/22 09:47:01 736: ---------------

pop3_force_fork is set to 0 (zero)
Username in e-mail client for SSL is set up as host:username:ssl

After re-installing V1.1.1 everything works as expected.

It is a problem with the installer. If you re-run the POPFile 1.1.2 installer and select the XMLRPC option it will install some extra files that will fix the problem.

You do not need to change POPFile's configuration (i.e. there is no need to enable XMLRPC in the POPFile UI).

Selecting the XMLRPC option in the installer adds a lot of files to the minimal Perl. Once I have determined which ones are needed for SSL support there will be a 1.1.3 release.

      Sorry about the inconvenience.

      Brian

Selecting the XMLRPC option solved the problem. Thank you very much for your quick help!

        Hi,

Indeed that worked for me as well.

I believe it would be wise to put a note about this on the news page and on the download page.

        Thanks,

        Will

The first release candidate for POPFile 1.1.3 (which fixes this and some other problems) is available. There will be at least one more release candidate (today or tomorrow?) before the new version is released.

Edit: POPFile 1.1.3 RC2 is now available for testing.
