Popfile on Office365 with IMAP categorization issue: Office 365 Web UI showing duplicate emails in INBOX and mail folders

I am using Ubuntu 16.04 and installed popfile through sudo apt-get install popfile. I configured popfile to connect to my Office 365 account through IMAP (outlook.office365.com:993).

After configuring the buckets I see that popfile is moving the emails to the buckets properly. Through my IMAP email client (Gnus) I can see that INBOX doesn't have any emails after popfile categorization and the bucket folders have all the moved emails. However, if I login to the Web UI of office365 (http://outlook.office365.com), I see that the emails in the bucket folders. However I also see emails in the INBOX with unread status.

I am using PopFile? v1.1.3. Any tips?

    Setting imap_expunge 1 resolved the issue. Now the emails are no longer available in the INBOX of WebUI.
