About Outlook 2007 IMAP Settings

Need some help!

I'm fighting SPAM long time, as many other. Last week i found something about POPFile and tryed to install and run.
Instalation is OK, i think, but i receive again and again the same error message: "Failed to connect to server. Please check the host name and port and make sure you are online."
I spend few days searching for solution, here in forum and internet, but with no success.
I miss something. So, if someone can help me fix problem, i'll be grateful.

    There are two problems here:

    (1) POPFile's IMAP module is not configured correctly

    (2) Outlook 2007 is not configured correctly

    How to fix problem (1):

POPFile's IMAP module is failing to connect to the IMAP server because you have specified port 933 is to be used - change this setting to use port 993 then click the APPLY button to make POPFile use the correct port.

Once POPFile is using the correct port number you should be able to use the "Refresh list of folders now" button on the CONFIGURATION page to display a list of folders found on the Gmail server.

Here is a sample log file showing a successful connection to Gmail using port 993

    2014/11/30 12:53:28 18296: POPFile v1.1.3 starting
    2014/11/30 12:53:28 18296: bayes: 811: Attempting to connect to dbi:SQLite:dbname=D:\Z-WORK~1\113-SS~1\WORK-I~1\user/popfile.db (1)
    2014/11/30 12:53:28 18296: bayes: 912: Using SQLite library version 3.7.2
    2014/11/30 12:53:41 18296: IMAP-Client: 171: Connected to imap.gmail.com:993 timeout 60

See the "Getting IMAP.pm up and running" page in the online manual for more information about POPFile's IMAP module.

    How to fix problem (2):

When POPFile is used to classify email using IMAP no changes are required to Outlook because POPFile works in parallel with Outlook:

    Before installing POPFile:

Outlook -- internet -- email server

After installing POPFile to use IMAP:

Outlook -- internet -- email server
POPFile -- internet -- email server

No changes are made to Outlook because POPFile's IMAP module accesses the mail server and makes changes to the mail stored on the mail server without involving Outlook. (POPFile's POP3 module works differently and requires some changes to the Outlook settings.)

Change the Outlook settings back to the original values you were using before you installed POPFile and Outlook should work again.

      Thanks Brian, thanks man!
I fixed all and now everything seems is going well. I have a questions. 1. Can i change port 993 with another, and if answer is "Yes", can you give some details.

      Thanks once again.

Can i change port 993 with another

Why do you want to change this port ?

Port 993 is the standard port for IMAP connections which use SSL. This means IMAP servers listen on port 993 for connections which use SSL.
