Logging Options

Hello POPFile:

Love the concept.

Found additional Logging, but the description has only two Options, 0 and 2, but the text seems to imply that the option of (1) for possibly ONLYWarnings, may be available. Is logging paramater(1) for warnings. 0 forOff, 2 for EVERYTHING?

Thanks.

Found additional Logging, but the description has only two Options, 0 and 2

The logger_level parameter can be set to 0, 1 or 2 as described in POPFile Command Line and Advanced Options (Logger Options) and in more detail at Logger Level in the online manual.

Is logging paramater(1) for warnings. 0 forOff, 2 for EVERYTHING?

No, the logger_level parameter controls the amount of information that gets logged. Level 0 does not provide much detail, level 1 logs the same information as level 0 plus some extra detail and level 2 logs the same information as level 1 plus a lot more detail, such as the full content of every email message processed by POPFile.

Here are some examples of what is logged when an email client checks for new mail and does not find any new messages (I've deleted the timestamps and process IDs to reduce the size of these extracts):

    Logger Level 0:

With the logger_level set to 0 POPFile's log does not show if any email messages were found but with level 1 or 2 it can be seen that the mailbox was empty.
