Getting a clickable link to the POPFile UI in Mozilla Mail and Thunderbird

There is an extension available for both programs that will allow you to get a clickable link from any message to the POPFile UI. It will also allow you to display the X-Text-Classification header more easily. The extension is called mnenhy (short for mail-news ehancements) and can be found at mnenhy.mozdev.org.

Here's the road to clickable X-POPFile-Link headers:

  1. Download mnenhy from mozdev.org. If you are using Thunderbird, you will have to download the entire package. Mozilla users can directly install the extension; all you need to select is the “Custom Headers List” feature.
  2. Thunderbird users: Install the extension. Go to Tools → Extensions → Install and select the file you have just downloaded.
  3. Restart Mozilla or Thunderbird.
  4. Configure mnenhy to display the X-POPFile-Link:
    1. In Mozilla, choose Edit → Preferences → Mnenhy → Custom Headers
    2. In Thunderbird, choose Tools → Extensions → Mnenhy, click on 'Options', and select 'Custom Headers'
  5. Select 'Extended Normal View' from the drop-down menu that initially says '(Select Custom Header List)'.
  6. Click on 'Add Header'
  7. Enter new custom header: X-POPFile-Link
  8. View format: Link
  9. Display name: Use whatever you like; how about 'POPFile Link'?
  10. Click OK
  11. Make sure the newly created header is selected.

That's it. When you now view a message in Mozilla or Thunderbird and choose to display the 'Extended Normal View' for the headers (and don't choose the 'Brief' mode), you will get a clickable link to the POPFile UI.

Getting Mozilla or Thunderbird to display the X-Text-Classification header

The method to do this is essentially the same as for the X-POPFile-Link header. When you add that header in mnenhy's configuration dialog, enter these values:
