POPFile v1.1.3f for Mac OS X has now been released (December 3, 2015)

POPFile 1.1.3f for Mac OS X Yosemite / El Capitan / macOS Sierra supports Mac OS X El Capitan (10.11) and macOS Sierra (10.12). Download POPFile 1.1.3f.

POPFile 1.1.3 (Windows version) cannot connect to some SSL servers (September 29, 2015)

The Windows version of POPFile 1.1.3 is no longer compatible with some SSL servers (e.g. Microsoft's *.live.com and outlook.com accounts). This is because POPFile 1.1.3 does not use an up-to-date version of the OpenSSL library. An SSL updater has been produced as a temporary fix until POPFile 1.1.4 is released. Download the SSL updater (for the Windows version of POPFile 1.1.3).

POPFile v1.1.3d for Mac OS X has now been released (November 9, 2014)

POPFile 1.1.3d for Mac OS X Yosemite now supports Mac OS X Yosemite (10.10). Download POPFile 1.1.3d.

POPFile v1.1.3a for Mac OS X has now been released (September 12, 2011)

POPFile 1.1.3 for Mac OS X crashes when you search message history at the history tab. To solve this problem, POPFile 1.1.3 for Mac OS X has been released. Sorry for inconvenience.

POPFile v1.1.3 has now been released (September 6, 2011)

This release fixes a bug found in the POPFile 1.1.2 Windows installer and adds some logging enhancements. The cross-platform version and the installers for Windows and Mac OS X are available here.

Please note that the minimal Perl used by the Windows version has been upgraded and as a result Windows 9x, Windows Millennium, Windows NT and Windows 2000 are no longer officially supported. Although POPFile 1.1.3 can be installed on these old versions of Windows it is possible that it may not work properly because the system requirements for Perl (and the PDK used to build some of the programs) now say "Windows XP or later".

WARNING: If you are upgrading from POPFile 1.0.1 or earlier this release will convert your existing database from SQLite 2.x to the new 3.x format. The new SQLite 3.x database cannot be used by POPFile 1.0.1 or any earlier version of POPFile. Although POPFile will make a backup copy of your old SQLite 2.x format database it is recommended that you also make your own backup copy before you try to upgrade your existing installation.

POPFile v1.1.2 has now been released (August 21, 2011)

This release includes several changes and some new features. The Windows installer now installs SSL support by default and there are now three installers for Mac OS X (one for 10.7 (Lion), one for 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and one for older versions of OS X). All of these installers and the cross-platform version are available here.

New look for the POPFile Statistics page (February 5, 2009)

The POPFile Real Time Statistics page has been revised to provide a better summary of the reports submitted by users. By default POPFile does not send any information to us but on the SECURITY page in the UI there is an option which can be turned on to make POPFile send once per day the following three values to a script on getpopfile.org: bc (the total number of buckets that you have), mc (the total number of messages that POPFile has classified) and ec (the total number of classification errors).

These three values get stored in a database which is used to generate some statistics about how people use POPFile and how well it works. Our web server keeps its log files for several days and then they get deleted; we are not storing any connection between the statistics and individual IP addresses.

Moving away from sourceforge (Mar 2008)

We are in the process of moving POPFile away from Sourceforge to its own dedicated server. An update to POPFile version 1.0.0 will be done through Sourceforge and we will then completely move in here.
